Why Use the Calendar of Events

The UChicago Calendar of Events is intended to be the system of record* for all campus events. Currently, nearly 400 groups, ranging from schools and divisions, departments, units, offices, student groups, and others, actively use the calendar for event promotion.

The Calendar can integrate with campus group websites, which promotes events on multiple platforms, while reducing the need to manage events in more than one place. Available integrations, called widgets, include a monthly calendar view, list or tile grid view, and can be easily placed on Voices, ExpressionEngine and Sitecore sites.

The Calendar has helpful features such as:

  • Ability to easily share events with other group calendars, including the University of Chicago homepage and UChicago Intranet
  • RSVP functionality, which allows for:
    • Communication to registered attendees, via customizable emails, including an event reminder and a post event follow-up
    • Quick view of RSVP numbers, as well as a downloadable list of all registered attendees
    • Users to be able to RSVP for single, multiple, or all events in a series
  • Ability to host online events
  • Registration which allows event coordinators to link to an external event management system such as Eventbrite
  • Ability to categorize events by audience, campus, type, and cost details.
  • Ability to store images for group usage when creating events
  • Tags (keywords) for improved event searchability
  • Ability to subscribe to calendar feeds or copy events to your UChicago calendar

*The Calendar of Events is not intended to be used as an event management system. It does not allow for ticket sales, food selections, seating arrangements, location/room reservations, special accommodations, or payment of any kind.
